UVMax® UV Cured Powder Coatings

Innovative finishing technology that combines both functionality and performance for heat sensitive substrates (wood, plastic and composites) as well as traditional metal materials.

Innovative finishing technology that combines both functionality and performance for heat sensitive substrates (wood, plastic and composites) as well as traditional metal materials.

Available in wide range of colors, glosses, and textures with custom color matching to any PMS, Pantone, or supplied sample. A coating can be custom formulated to meet your specific finish or performance requirements.

The UV Difference

UV cured powder coating formulations consist of resin, photoinitiators, additives, and pigments. The primary differences between UV powder formulations are the resin functionalities and the crosslinking agents used which consist of photoinitiators. Otherwise, UV powder coatings are produced in the same manner using the same equipment and manufacturing processes as thermoset powder coatings. They are simply cured with UV light energy as opposed to heat.

To achieve a complete cure, it’s necessary to match the type and amount of photoinitiator to the UV light source. This is a combination of UV energy, dose, intensity, and wavelength. If you have further curing questions, feel free to reach out and we would be happy to help.

Formulation

UV Resin

UV Resin

Keyland Polymer UV Resins manufactures Epoxy, Polyester, and Hybrid resin systems used in our UVMax® powder coatings.

Photoinitiator

Photoinitiator

Absorbs high intensity ultraviolet (UV) light, producing an instantaneous molecular crosslinking in the coating.

Additives

Additives

Used to modify the coating to improve performance characteristics such as scratch and mar resistance, antimicrobial properties, and more.

Pigments

Pigments

Pigments and extenders are used to add opacity and color in the coating.

Additional Information

Antimicrobial

UVMax® Defender using Bactiblock technology is available for all resin chemistries in our UVMax® powder coating line without hindering coating appearance or performance. The antimicrobial agent uses silver ion technology that attaches to the cell walls of a microbe, interrupting enzyme production and DNA replication.
